Who we are:
The Port of London Authority (PLA) is the statutory harbour authority for the tidal Thames, overseeing the UK’s largest port - 95 miles of the River Thames from the Estuary to Teddington in West London. Our mission is to keep river users safe, protect and enhance the environment, and promote the use of the river for recreation, trade, and travel.

The role:
You will be working to facilitate the provision of a high quality responsive, operational HR service for all employees and managers. The job is challenging and diverse, and you will need to be organised and disciplined with a good attention to detail as you will play a crucial role within a busy team.

You will also provide a full administrative service to the HR team in terms of supporting activities such as recruitment, training and development, reward and benefit and be comfortable in providing good quality first line support to employees and managers. You will also work closely with other areas under the HR Directorate such as Health, Safety and Wellbeing, as well as Payroll and Pensions, so experience of similar workplace structures would be advantageous.

What we are looking for:
We are looking for candidates with a background in Human Resources and demonstrable experience of computerised HR Systems and Learning Management systems. Previous experience of Applicant Tracking Systems is highly desirable as is experience of working with Payroll, Pensions and IT Departments to understand their functions.

Excellent administrative experience gained over a number of years would be essential. Ideally you will also have previous experience from a similar industry and a knowledge of a unionised working environment.

You will have either a level 3 CIPD qualification or be studying towards CIPD level 5. You should also have Associate membership of the CIPD. You must be self-motivated and be able to work cohesively as part of a team. You should have strengths in problem-solving combined with analytical, communication, time management and interpersonal skills.
